Ayurveda

The holistic approach of Ayurveda considers the whole self of mind, body and spirit, restoring balance and a feeling of well being.  Ayurveda is the science of living according to our bodily needs which are appropriate to our physical type.

Each person is uniquely created through the five basic elements of ether, air, earth, fire and water.  Within this system are the three doshas Vata (ether plus air), Pitta (fire plus water), Kapha (water plus earth).  According to Ayurveda there are seven constitutional balances:  vata/pitta/kapha/vata-pitta/pitta-kapha/kapha-vata/vata-pitta-kapha.  Each individual's constitution is composed of one, two or all three of the tridosha and this was determined at conception.

When the doshic balance is disturbed this creates ill health.

In Ayurveda the purpose is to balance the original makeup of the doshas and restore order within the system - thus promoting good health and supporting the individual along life's path to longevity.

Ayurveda recognises that a good diet, exercise and appropriate lifestyle are all important in balancing the doshas.  When ayurveda is taken regularly with the changing seasons it keeps the body strong and helps to keep illness at bay.

Treat Yourself to standard Ayurvedic treatments given to boost the body's defences.  The therapies are excellent for relaxation, pampering, recuperation, rejuvenation, stress relief and for the sheer luxury of time-out for yourself.

It must be emphasized that serious medical conditions should be treated at an Ayurvedic Hospital.  Arrangements can be made at a separate venue where the duty doctor will prescribe a regime of ayurveda, diet and exercise.  The recommendations of an Ayurvedic doctor must be strictly followed to gain relief from a medical condition.

There is no quick cure for existing ailments.  Ayurveda can help but it could require many months of treatments.

Regular Ayurvedic treatments will help to keep illness at bay.
